Data Analysis Bridge Manual Brainstorming Internal Auditor Training
The Bridge Procedure Manual is part of the (SMS) Safety Management System. The SMS on the other hand is an important aspect of the International safety management (ISM) code and it details all the important policies, practices, and procedures that are to be followed in order to ensure safe functioning of ships at sea.
Over the past decade, PT Promacindo has been involved in the development of new bridge procedure manuals and the upgrading of existing ones. Several shipping companies utilised the immense experience of PT Promacindo in this field. The main idea behind these projects is to ensure that the manual is compliant with the international requirements. Furthermore, that is written in such a way, that it will be a useful manual for the crew and an easy to use guide for their daily work. All documents and information connected to the project will be treated as confidential and will not be used for any other purpose other than that for which they have been provided.
After careful inspection of the existing documentation, we will produce a first evaluation. This will convey a detailed gap analysis. In case the clients want to continue we will prepare an action plan and develop the agreed documentation.
For our work instructions and procedures, we use the International Standards Organization (ISO) 9001 standard referred to as the “documentation pyramid”. The pyramid has four different levels with the top-level policies cascading down to other levels.
Level 1 – Policy – defines what will be done and why.
Level 2 – Procedures – describes who does what, when and where.
Level 3 – Work Instructions – describes how to accomplish a given task.
Level 4 – Records and Forms – records action taken which can be used as evidence that the policies, procedures and work instruction have been followed, for example during inspections.
